A beautiful piece of Melbourne history! Panels and points in near new refurbished condition. The saddle does have a tear on the seat, padded safe and skirt (you get that with a saddle of this age) but does not effect it structurally and all could be easily patched.

A lovely brand name side saddle made in England. Saddle is in fantastic condition, minimal wear to girth points. Beautiful wide pommels. Leather covered foam filled panels (could be easily converted to flocked if required), generous channel width. Saddle does have a regular stirrup bar but comes mounted with its own stirrup with safety release fitting. Some scuffs to the letter which will easily buff out though cannot be seen when ridden in either way. Saddles of this quality, ready to ride and show do not pop up for sale often!!

Stacey selling a saddle from her collection? The world must have gone mad! She may not be uber fashionable but she is functional and half of her is new! Brand new wool flocked panels and all new girth and balance points. She is relatively flat in the seat for an older style saddle. No cutback head but decent clearance in front. Would suit a horse or pony on the slightly more narrow side, medium wither and decent saddle shelf/length of back. I had the saddle refurbished with every intention of using it for side saddle clinics but sadly she’s not come out of the cover once! No fault of her own, I just have a super repertoire of saddles already.

Could this be your unicorn side saddle?! Given the saddles all original and early 1900’s age, she is in as good a condition as can be expected. Unfortunately, Australian Biosecurity felt the need to rip open the panels when its owner bought it over to Australia from the UK. Because of this, the saddle will require new panels and this is reflected in the price. I can advise of saddlers who may be able to do this for you. All points in reasonable condition given the saddles age but these should be replaced as a precaution when the panels are re-done. Does require some stitching repairs to the skirt as shown. Comes with original C&W stirrup leather with Copes Iron. Previously used for hunting, is reinforced for jumping. More photos available upon request.

Condition doesn't get much better than this for saddle of its age! Panels and points in near new refurbished condition, not even a wear mark on the points. Panel shape when refurbished reflects that of a more "modern" saddle for better fit and ridability. Comes mounted with matching stirrup leather and safety iron. Saddle will need a girth point added over the tree point on the nearside for the balance girth - this is very easy to do and could be arranged prior to purchase.

For Sale on Behalf of Owner: Australian made Matt Kelly Side Saddle
Built on an Aulton & Butler tree (which are modelled off a wide Owen tree) with a Mayhew style stirrup fitting. This saddle is just beautiful having had very minimal use and its condition is evident of this.
Measuring 16" from cutback to cantle and 20" from front of fixed head to cantle. The seat is 12" across at the widest point. Measuring 8" from d-ring to d-ring and 16" between bottom of short and long points. Approx. 2.5-3" wide channel. I have placed this saddle on my 17hh WB x ISH who normally wears a medium wide-wide gullet astride saddle. With some flocking adjustments it would fit her nicely.
Outside offside girthing, suede seat and pommels and removable leaping head cover. The saddle comes fully mounted with stirrup leather and iron as well as two matching 3 fold leather girths measuring 50"/127cm and 43"/110cm respectively buckle to buckle. Each girth complete with its own balance girth/strap as well.
This saddle has been professionally cleaned, oiled and conditioned. The saddle is darkening in colour with oiling and I would suspect it will continue to do so for those who may be put off by it’s brighter brown colour. Not very often do saddles of this condition pop up for sale in Australia. A rarity to find a side saddle that is very much show ring ready.
